Food is another challenge. Either
I'm not hungry or I don't know what to eat.
While a good diet helps keep you in fighting shape,
almost all cancer patients struggle with maintaining a healthy
nutritional plan. Many treatments trigger side effects that
disturb eating, such as changes in taste and smell, mouth
sores, nausea, digestive problems, or unwanted weight gain
or loss. That's why we provide a nutritionist to guide
your eating and support your treatment goals.
Our cancer patients are evaluated in terms of appropriate
nutritional support by registered dietitians. Evaluations
of dietary history, weight status, and past medical histories
are all considered.
We conduct interdisciplinary discharge planning rounds and
periodic meal rounds to assist in providing the best nutritional
care. We also instruct patients and caregivers on principles
for nutritional management to combat the effects of cancer
and its related treatments.
