Cancer Supportive Services Program
Financial Services

Cancer is also expensive. How can I manage financially?
Cancer Supportive Services can direct you to financial counseling that can help you navigate the health insurance and managed care maze. Our social workers may also refer you to government-sponsored and specialized community-based resources that might ease your budget. For those whose resources and insurance coverage are extremely limited, grants may be available to minimize obstacles to care.

While insurance helps to ease the burden for many, those with poor or no coverage find themselves overwhelmed by the financial demands of treating their disease. Currently, Cancer Center physicians may recommend that the hospital's financial aid office negotiate lower fee schedules with select patients. Our financial counseling services have been broadened to help our patients steer through complex health insurance and managed care forms so as to guarantee that poor and underinsured patients have reasonable access to services that may not be covered by their health insurance.
